Eula Anderson Rowden

Eula Anderson Rowden, 86 years old, passed away on January 30, 2024, in Muscle Shoals Alabama, surrounded by her family. Eula was born on March 2, 1937, to Basil and Doris Anderson. She grew up on a farm near Pottersville, Missouri. A proud Zizzer, she graduated from West Plains high school in 1954. Eula married her high school sweetheart, James Bobby Rowden that same year. They made their home in St. Louis until 1973 at which time they moved to Eminence upon purchasing the Western Auto store from her Uncle Fred and Aunt Maxine Collins. She worked alongside Bob in Western Auto until the mid-1970s at which time she opened the driver's license office inside the store. Eula enjoyed serving the community in the Eminence Chamber of Commerce and she was a dedicated poll worker for 40 years in local elections. She and Bob loved leading the Eminence First Baptist youth department for many years, hosting games, food, and fellowship in their home. She treasured the memories of taking the youth to the lake on weekends to ski. She was passionate about impacting the next generation for Christ. In her retirement years, she drove a school bus and enjoyed working at the Cross Country Trail Ride, meeting many new and old friends each year.

Eula loved sports, she played softball into her 60s and spent the past 25 years as an avid golfer. She enjoyed spending time with her golfing buddies and cherished playing with her brother, nephews, grand- sons, and great-grandsons. Eula and Bob enjoyed their RV travels upon retirement, living as winter Texans for 12 years. She enjoyed talking about her family and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Eula was a quiet strength, devoted to her family and husband of 67 years. She will always be known for the love of her family, her friends, her church, and her Lord. She loved us well! Eula was preceded in death by her husband James "Bob" Rowden. Eula has three children, Greg Rowden (Renee) of Eminence, MO, Kara Sams (David) of Muscle Shoals, AL and Carmen Kyle of Southaven, MS. Other survivors include her brother, Lyle Anderson (Peggy) of Louisville, KY; sisters, Ila Dickey (Perry) of Bartlesville, OK, and Letty Parrot (David) of West Plains, Missouri; a favorite cousin, Billy G. Anderson (Karen) of Salem, MO; and a host of nieces and nephews Eula has 8 grandchildren, James Rowden, Jason Rowden, Emily Dailey, Whitley Spencer, Brent Sams, Blake Sams, Peyton Kyle, and Grant Kyle. She has 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Eminence, Missouri. Visitation was held at 9:30, prior to the funeral, also at the church. Interment was in Rowden Cemetery, Eminence.
