Hubert (Red) Walker

Hubert Leroy “Red” Walker, son of Cleo and Hazel (Birlew) Walker was born July 1, 1947, in Bardley, Oregon County, Missouri. He passed away on May 31, 2024, in West Plains, Missouri.

He attended school in Winona, Missouri, graduating with the class of 1965. He spent much of his life working construction in St. Louis and was known for being a perfectionist at his trade. The love of his life was fishing anytime and anyplace, including Canada, as well as numerous states throughout the nation. Another of his favorite pastimes was hunting with his family and friends.

He was married on July 31, 1965, to Carol (Dixon) Junkins. To this union were born three children, Darren Walker (Lorie Weibl, deceased), Teresa (Michael) McCarrel, and Anita Fox (John Fox, deceased). Later in life, he married Judy Tucker.

Red is preceded in death by his parents, Cleo and Hazel Walker; and his wife Judy.

He is survived by his children, Darren, Teresa, and Anita; their mother, Carol; grandchildren, Aaron Walker, Brennon Walker, Michael, “Joey” (Jessica) McCarrel, Justin (Jeannie) McCarrel, Logan Fox, and Ryan Fox; six great- grandchildren; two brothers, Herbert Walker and Te d Walker; four sisters, Ola Norris, Bessie Flury, Shirley Grimmitt and Essie Haines; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Red will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Graveside services was held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Winona, Missouri, with Rocky Dailey officiating, under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Winona. Condolences may be expressed at www.yarbermortuary.com.
