Erma Lea Hardwick

Erma Lea Hardwick, daughter of the late James Otho Blanks and Bertha (Bradshaw) Blanks was born on July 28, 1946 in Shannon County, Missouri and departed this life on July 25, 2024 at Mercy South in Saint Louis, Missouri. She had attained the age of seventy-seven years, eleven months and twenty-eight days.

Erma had resided in Carter County for most of her life. She was of the Baptist faith and had attended the Fremont Baptist Church in Fremont, Missouri. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, going to church and scratching lottery tickets. Erma had a great personality, always had a smile on her face, bossy, strong-willed and if she liked you, you knew it.

Survivors include her companion, Richard Hardwick of Winona, MO; her children, Lisa Eager (Shawn) of Van Buren, MO, Richard Hardwick, “Jr. ” ( Teresa) of Dubuque, IA, Lucy Getts (Chris) of Van Buren, MO, Jamie (Rita) Hardwick of Ellsinore, MO, Ronald Hardwick of Charleston, MO, Johnny Hardwick of Licking, MO and Daisey Williams (Jacob Neal) of Van Buren, MO; brother, “Tub” Blanks (Mary of Winona, MO; sisters, Bessie Malden of Pennsylvania and “Dimp” Shemwell of Winona, MO and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family and friends who will mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, Erma was preceded in death by siblings, Laura Hardwick, Benjamin Blanks, Clayton Blanks, Jim Blanks, Gilbert Blanks, Willie Blanks, Nobel Blanks, Viola Weaver and Bob Van Winkle; granddaughters, Kenzie Chee and Danielle Yarbrough; grandson, Jordan Hardwick and daughter-in-law, Wanda Hardwick.

A Visitation was held on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. in the McSpadden Funeral Home in Van Buren, MO with a Graveside Service following at 11:00 a.m. in the Fremont Cemetery in Fremont, MO.
