Glenda Pearl Thomas was born December 14, 1930, in Blairs Creek, Missouri to Walter and Daisy (Ferguson) Mooney. She departed this life on July 19, 2024, in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 93.

Glenda spent many years working in the food service industry as a waitress and manager. Her caring and attentive service distinguished her with her customers, colleagues, and peers. In particular, she caught the eye of a handsome, widowed army sergeant named John W. Thomas. They married in 1967 when she lovingly and courageously became a mother to John's 5 children, ages 3 - 13.The family lived in California before moving to Missouri in 1975. She later helped raise her grandson, John C Thomas.

Glenda is preceded in death by her husband, John W. Thomas; siblings, Harold Mooney, Jim Mooney, Tom Mooney, Beulah Cowen, Kenny Mooney, Bob Mooney, Hazel Turner, Ruth Slaton, Doyle Mooney, and Gene Mooney.

Survivors include her children, JoAnn Thomas, Edna Thomas, Wallace Thomas, Nina Ardis, and Tanya Chan; sisters, Betty Pitts and Rose Patterson; sisters-in-law, Valerie Mooney, Carol Mooney, and Hazel Mooney. She was the proud grandmother of 6 grandchildren, John C Thomas, Christopher Russell, Kimberly Kowaleski, James Ardis, Elizabeth Chan, and Melissa Chan; and 5 great grandchildren.

Glenda was known for her compassion and willingness to care for others. Her love and attention to her family and to all of those around her are cherished by all. She lived a life devoted to her faith and her love of God.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Yarber Mortuary, Eminence, Missouri, with Pastor Randy Ferguson officiating. Visitation was held prior to the service from 9-11 : 0 0 a.m. also at the funeral home. Interment was in Blairs Creek Cemetery, Eminence, Missouri.
