Roy Bradshaw Sr.

September 12, 2024

Roy Dale Bradshaw Sr. was born on April 11, 1960, to Ray and Ola Jane (Price) Bradshaw. Roy was one of seven children.

Roy grew up mostly on Rocky Creek, where he along with his wife and kids would come back to live as well. Roy enjoyed working in the woods, both in timber and digging roots for medicines. Roy spent many an evening at the river, with his wife and young kids. Later he would enjoy teaching both of his children the art of digging roots and picking blackberries.

Roy was a Jack of many trades and even managed to master a few along the way. He spent his last few years back in roofing alongside his cousin.

Roy Sr. truly loved being a father! He loved teaching his children, as well as his wife, the art and enjoyment of living in the woods along with all the "needs to know" to live it successfully.

In winter Roy loved taking his kids and his beagle dog, Radar, sledding on the different back road hills. And cutting his own firewood after it snowed, always making it a family adventure.

Roy took pride in the yard that he cultivated, after moving back on Rocky with this family. Being good at small engine repair Roy always had a lawn mower ripping and roaring to go. After becoming disabled Roy decided to add on to the family home. Roy was very proud of the living room, he had built with all the glass windows for his wife's many flowers. Roy was just as proud of the fruit trees he would come to plant some years later.

Roy was the proudest of Papa's as well! He never missed the birth of any of his four grandchildren that he was so proudly blessed with. The second being born during a snowstorm.

On leap year day of 2016, Roy asked his wife Tabatha to marry him again. After saying “yes”, they renewed their vows 3 years later in the beautiful historic town of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, where Roy gave Tabatha the wedding ceremony and honeymoon of her dreams!

Unfortunately, 2 years later, Roy would be diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Life changed in a heartbeat,Roy did not want to leave his life or his family behind. Roy chose to fight his cancer head-on. The next 10 months, found Roy and hiswife traveling hundreds and hundreds of miles. Roy underwent too many tests to count, along with chemo and every other chemical they could come up with.

With everyone believing he had beat the odds Roy continued to enjoy his family and his life until the cancer overtook his body. Not wanting to leave his loved ones behind, Roy fought until his very last breath.

With his wife of 35 years by his side, Roy's fight with cancer came to a quiet end in their home. Roy Sr. transcended from this world to the next in the arms of his wife Tabatha G Bradshaw and their granddaughter Tabatha LeeAnn Bradshaw.

Along with his wife, Roy leaves behind their two children, Roy Dale Jr. and their daughter Dawn J. (Bradshaw) Maclin; along with four known grandchildren and a home full of fur babies; as well as two older children from two previous situations.

Roy Sr. was a good man, a great husband, and an amazing father and grandfather! He will be deeply missed and forever loved by his family and friends.

A private Celebration of Life was held at their home on July 9th, 2023. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Winona, Missouri. Condolences may be expressed at www.yarbermortuary.com
