Janease Harms
January 30, 2025

Janease Marie Harms, formerly Janease Marie Griffin, was loved by all she ever met.
She loved her children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
Janease was a wonderful musician and singer. She first picked up the piano when she wasthree years old. When she was big enough to reach the piano keys, she would play in the church. As a matter of fact, the pastor would pick her up at three and put her on the piano bench. So many of her family and friends would call her “Tap” because she would peck on the kyes. She could sing like Patsy Cline or Loretta Lynn and had such a wonderful voice to everyone who heard her. Gospel music was her favorite music to sing and play.
Janease was saved by Jesus Christ, and she loved talking about Christ and the Bible. Her favorite song was “Amazing Grace” because she would always say it was the most honest song of truth about Jesus and the truth about salvation. She attended Hope Assembly in St. Louis, Missouri and the Powe Gospel Church in Bernie, Missouri and she was baptized into the Assembly of God Church in Winona, Missouri by Tim Rolen.
She was married to Donald Harms and after he passed away she met David Mekan, who was her life partner. Both men were the loves of her life for 30 years or more. She always said she had two of the most wonderful men in her life, and a lot of women never had one that good to her. She said she was the luckiest woman in the world, and other women knew that too because they would tell her. Janease was the kind of person who believed in God, and she raised her children in the church, and that is what is missing a lot in this world today. Both Janease and her daughter talked about that. Her daughter would say, “I am so glad my mom brought me up that way because church is my root, and that grounded me in faith in God.
I am David Mekan, and Janease Harms was my life and the most important thing in my life. She was my rock. Two days after her passing, she left me a message saying, “I will never leave you.” I am telling the truth because I don’t lie.
A family-guided Celebration of Life is planned for a later date. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Winona, Missouri. Condolences may be expressed at www.yarbermortuary.com
