Joyce (Norris) Yates

Joyce Dean (Norris) Yates was born on April 3, 1947, in Winona, Missouri, to her loving parents, Gerald and Fayetta (Leslie) Norris. She peacefully departed from this world on January 18th, 2025 at the age of 77 years. 

Joyce was a devoted mother to her daughters, Veronica Dixon and Valerie Voyles. She adored her grandchildren, Morgan Rhea and husband Jacob, Macie Dodson and husband Briar, Delaney Hicks, and McCade Dixon; and her great-grandchildren, Owen, Hollis, and Eastan Rhea. She is further survived by her beloved mother, Fayetta Martin; sisters, Barbara (Steve) Campbell, and Debbie (Gene) Conner; brothers, Don Norris and Roger (Melissa) Norris; as well as her dear friend Jim Yates. Joyce leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts. 

She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald Norris; brother, David Norris; sister, Teresa Wood; son-in-law, Jeff Dixon; nephew, Steve Campbell Jr.; and grandparents, William and Florence (Anthony) Leslie, and Otis and Fannie (Jordan) Norris. 

Joyce professed her faith in God and was baptized in October of 1981, a moment that brought her enduring peace throughout her life. She cherished her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was an amazing cook and enjoyed painting, sewing, gardening, and planting flowers. In later years, she embraced the challenge of word games, which kept her mind sharp and entertained. 

Her warmth, creativity, and unwavering devotion to family will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May the memory of Joyce bring comfort to those she touched during her lifetime. 

Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Pine Lawn Cemetery, Winona, Missouri, with Veronica Dixon and Valerie Voyles officiating, under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Winona. Memorial Contributions may be made to The Helping Hands Thrift Store in Winona or the Rock Point Nursing Center Resident Christmas Fund in Birch Tree.
