Florence “Betty” Edgar

Florence “Betty” Elizabeth Edgar was born January 31, 1938, in Lockney, Texas to Bessie Blanch (Lovins) and Ray E. Bowman. She departed this life on February 8, 2025, in Republic Missouri at the age of 87.
Betty was united in marriage to Junior Franklin Edgar on June 24, 1956, in Birch Tree, Missouri, and to this union, two daughters were born, Brenda and Tamara.
She was one of the hardest workers there was, as well as the most loving, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. When she gave, she gave with her whole heart. Betty worked multiple small jobs after graduating from high school; a seamstress at a cap factory, a telephone operator, and a bank teller before she was hired on with Missouri/Union Pacific Railroad. There she had positions as a keypunch operator, payroll processor, and Human Resources officer until retiring after over 30 years of service.
Besides loving and caring for her family, Betty’s hobbies and interests included sewing, cooking, taking care of the elderly, flower arranging, gardening, and feeding her beloved hummingbirds.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Junior F. Edgar; parents, Ray and Bessie (Lovins) Bowman; sister, Alice Bea (Moss) Wylie; and brother, Gerald Ray Bowman.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Haynes of O’Fallon, MO, and Ta m a r a Pieczynski (Mike) of Ozark, MO; grandchildren, Kurtis Schuldt of O’Fallon, MO, Joseph Pieczynski (Yuting Huang) of Seattle WA, and Kayla Wiles (Brent) of Pea Ridge, AR; and 2 great-granddaughters on the way.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Yarber Mortuary, Birch Tree, Missouri with Pastor Tim Reed officiating. Visitation was held prior to the service from 1-3:00 p.m., also at the funeral home. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Birch Tree.
