Claude “Scooter” Sutton
May 08, 2025

Claude Richard "Scooter" Sutton was born May 23, 1955, to Charles Robert Sutton and Margaret Blanche Selby, in Miami, Florida. His family moved to the Yukon/Summersville, Missouri area in 1973. They later moved to the Houston, Missouri area, where he attended and graduated high school in the class of 1974.
He used his knowledge to work in construction, heating and cooling, and electrical trades. He worked a total of 26 years for the City of Houston and the City of Cabool, from which he retired in 2017. Upon retirement, he moved to Eminence, Missouri, where he continued his skills in construction and electrical work. During his life, he was always there for his family and the many great friends he met along the way. He even helped total strangers whenever he saw the need.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Charles Robert "Bobby" Sutton, Jr. , Clifford Sutton, and Buster Burnham.
He is survived by his children, Jason Sutton and wife Cinnamon of GA, Christy Lust and husband Donnie of GA, and Colt Sutton and wife Carmen of Cabool, MO; 2 brothers, Jim Sutton of West Plains, MO, and Joe Burnham of Crane, MO; 3 sisters, Mary Gillespie of Mountain Grove, MO, Sara Remington of Lebanon, MO, and Florence Burnham of AL; 9 soon to be 10 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Scooter was blessed with many friends who were more like family. He will be missed dearly by all.
He enjoyed fishing trips with his friend, Rat, and whoever could go. He always looked forward to family gatherings where he enjoyed cooking or telling you how to cook. If he wasn't behind the grill, he was behind the wheel with his beloved companion "Babydoll", giving the kids rides on the four-wheeler, or whatever he could think of to entertain them. He enjoyed spending his evenings at his home away from home, "The Wet Spot," where he had many friends, where you could hear "I told you", "You're wrong", or "Listen to me". He might have had a rough exterior and attitude at times, but those who knew him knew he had the kindest heart and would do whatever he could for anyone. If you had the opportunity to get that speech or lecture, then you knew you were loved. His favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren. He looked forward to spending Christmas with his daughter and her family in Georgia. Without a doubt, he was living his best life and is now enjoying Jesus and the loved ones who are no longer here.
