Shayla Ann (Whitworth) Young

Shayla Ann (Whitworth) Young was born into this world on December 1, 1989 in West Plains, Missouri to Shelby and Dayla (Needels) Whitworth. She departed this world April 26, 2025 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. 

Shayla grew up in Southern MO amongst family and friends, spending her time listening to music, hanging out with friends and going to school. After graduating from high school, Shayla attended 2 years of college, earning her associate's degree in Graphic Design.

Shayla went on to have 6 children and devoted her adult life to working hard and providing for them no matter how many challenges came her way. To Shayla, her greatest accomplishment in life was being a mother. Shayla loved her children and did her best to give them a happy life. 

Shayla was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Clifford and Betty Needels, paternal grandfather Truman Whitworth, 1 aunt Kathy Whitworth and her infant daughter Jaycee Iler. 

Shayla is survived by 3 daughters, Emily Young, Miley Young, and Daniella Dooley, 2 sons, Joseph Young and Colton Whitworth. Her father, Shelby Whitworth, her mother, Dayla Needels and husband Harley Grubb. 1 brother, Avery Grubb, 1 sister, Sarah (Whitworth) Blanks, 3 stepbrothers, Christopher Grubb, Wilson Grubb and Ethan Grubb, 2 stepsisters, Cassie Fant and Jessica Grubb. Her companion, Daniel Dooley, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. 

Shayla always had a smile on her face and brightened everyone's lives with her kind heart, quirky sense of humor and willingness to help anyone she could. Shayla will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched, but she will never be forgotten, forever remaining in our hearts. 

A Visitation will be held on Monday, May 12, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of God of Prophecy in Winona, Missouri with the Funeral Services following at 2:00 p.m. in the church chapel. Rev. Tressa Price will be officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Winona, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Winona Security Bank of the Ozarks - Shayla’s Donation Account.
