Freeman Lee Baker, 76, was born on December 2, 1949, in Van Buren, Missouri, to Freeman Baker and Inez (Sullivan) Birlew. He departed this life on April 18, 2026, at his home in Birch Tree, Missouri, surrounded by his loving family.
On March 26, 1976, Freeman was united in marriage to Margaret A n n Bradshaw in Birch Tr e e , Missouri, and they recently celebrated 50 years of marriage.
Freeman is survived by his wife, Margaret Baker of the family home; three sons, Calvin Goforth (Patty) of Willow Springs, MO, Michael Baker (Desirea) of Birch Tree, MO, and Dennis Baker (Jennifer) of Birch Tree, MO; eighteen grandchildren, Hailey, Norma Jean, Jessica, Devin, Chloe, Madison, Lexi, Brittnee, Logan, Celeste, Caleb, Landon, Gracie, Freeman, Dillian, Katie, Jessie, and Zach; fifteen great-grandchildren; and siblings, Leon Baker of Birch Tree, MO, Darlene Combs of Thayer, MO, Jimmy Williams of Winona, MO, and Elaine Williams of Poplar Bluff,MO.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Freeman Baker and Inez Birlew.
Freeman enjoyed Bible study, camping, boating, fishing, gigging, fish fries, deer hunting, hiking, gardening, riding motorcycles, and spending time with family. He was a “jack-ofall-trades.”
Throughout his life, he worked in local sawmills, in real estate, owned a salvage yard, and drove over-the-road, but his favorite job was working at Menard’s. Freeman and Margaret were baptized at Rocky Falls.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Yarber Mortuary, Winona, Missouri, with Pastor Dale Law officiating. Visitation was held prior to the service from 2- 3:00 p.m., also at the funeral home. Interment was in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Winona.
