Samuel Crider

Samuel Grier Crider, 79, passed away on February 2, 2023, at his home in Eminence, Missouri. He was born July 8, 1943, in Lexington, Virginia, to Lloyd Harold “Dutch” and Elizabeth Jane “Susie” (Watkins) Crider. Samuel is preceded in death by one daughter, Tammie Jo Hanger; parents, Dutch and Susie Crider; father and mother-in-law, Leo Cowen and Maxine Woodman; and one brother, Bob Carter. Survivors include his wife, JoAnn (Cowen) Crider; sister, Betty Akins of Imperial, MO; two sons, Samuel Wayne Crider and wife, Lisa, and Lionel Joe Crider and wife, Tracy, all of Eminence, MO; nine grandchildren, Ericka Poage and husband, Richard of Camdenton, MO, Miranda Trail and husband, Matthew of West Plains, MO, Nick Crider and wife, Shauna of Springfield, MO, Sammie Wood and husband, Nick of Eminence, MO, Ethan Crider and wife, Hadia of Ballwin, MO, Joseph Crider and wife, Alicia of Knob Noster, MO, Maggie Crider, of Springfield, MO, Mattison Crider, of Eminence, MO, and Katie Cooper, Rolla, MO; nineteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Samuel and his cousin Junior purchased Crider Brother’s Lime Quarry in the 1970’s from their fathers, where they worked side by side until the company was passed on to Samuel’s children. Samuel loved to travel, fish, do woodworking, and to sit at the Rock Quarry and watch it operate. He loved listening to music and playing his guitar, but most of all he loved his wife and family. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at Church of God of Prophecy in Eminence, Missouri, with Pastor James Bolin officiating, under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Eminence. Visitation was held prior to the service from 1- 2:00 p.m. also at the church. Interment was held in the Delaware Cemetery in Eminence. A dinner will be held for the family following the interment.
